1. Introduction


Previous studies on English-Swedish language contact have mainly been conducted on Swedish spoken and written language. To my knowledge, however, no attempt so far has been made to measure the influence of English on Swedish E-discourse. That is, on English influence on online written Swedish.

This excerpt from 2006 hit single DOTA featuring Basshunter, serves to demonstrate that English lexical items from Swedish E-discourse are, albeit at a humble level, sometimes transferred to, and acceptable to use in Swedish spoken language.
