The title of the very interesting book I read is Forged By Fire. It was a realistic fiction book that kept me at the end of my seat with all the commotion and chaos the main character Gerald went through in his life. He was a very special young man who had a big heart. All his trials in tribulation showed how strong he was. I haven’t read a book that interested me more than Forged By Fire.
This book is about an outgoing boy by they name of Gerald and all the obstacles he overcame. The beginning of the story takes place in Cincinnati and he’s three years old. Gerald was a three year old bundle of joy that had a great smile and heart, but his mom just did not realize how special he was. His mother was a drug abuser and unfit parent. Once he was caught playing with fire because he thought that the flames were fire dancer. So his mom held the fire up to his hands and his expressing for the fire dancer soon changed to a cruel red soldier that made him scream and made him dizzy with pain and he could smell meat liked what his mom cook, but this time it was only his hand.
Gerald knew two things in life at this age and that was to never stay near mama when she sniffed things up her nose or never play with fire; although he learned the hard way. Sometimes his mother would leave him in the house by himself when Leroy (drug dealer) comes to get her, but his angelical Aunt Queen comes and get him and makes every thing so much better. Well one day mama took that trip to Mr. Leroy but didn’t return back before he begin to see if the fire dancer where still there. Yes he stilled remained there, but he wasn’t the sweet fire dancer he appeared to be but the ferocious cruel soldier like before who left the house in flames. The fire fighters rescued him, took him to the hospital and there they found out he was just find and Aunt Queen went to get him. From that day forward he lived with Aunt Queen and his mom went to jail....
