Four basic types of organization structures:
• The functional structure – sectors/organizational levels are created based on the function required to meet the overall goal.
• The Divisional Structure – sectors are created as self-contained units that function on one aspect of the company.
• Project Organization- temporary or permanent sectors are created as teams to accomplish goals of a particular project.
• International Organization – sectors organized in various countries to assist the company /organization succeed in the international marketplace.

Frantic Films is a Winnipeg-based film and television production company founded in 1997. It follows the Divisional Structure Organization model being comprised of a number of divisions- visual effects, live action, TV commercial and software. Each division operations as a self-contained unit but the company is reportedly small enough that divisions have the opportunity to collaborate when necessary.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of the organizational structure at Frantic Films?
Divisional structure has advantages of being able to accommodate change in various divisions without significant impact on another divisions, it develops specialization skills within divisional units, increases efficiency in the ability of the company to provide service/product in a changing market. The disadvantages of the divisional structure is that each unit works almost independently thus presenting potential challenges for duplication, poor communication for overall goal attainment, and diversity within the company. Divisional structure can foster competition and internal political influences on decision-making.
