Communication is an important utensil in our daily life. Communication plays a vital part whether is it is used in the workplace, school, interviewing, or just working out a problem within a team to ensure that you get the point across effectively. During this essay, I will discuss why communication is important and describe my communication methods and how I would use it differently.
The success of anything hinges on the way people communicate effectively in today’s society. It ultimately determines the success and failure of an organization and people. Poor communication has caused individuals to lose and not be approved for a job. I try to use effective skills by listening and responding to everyone in a timely manner. Making sure they understand me clearly. This has helped me become successful at work and in the classroom.
I like to use both verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Using non-verbal, I try not to use gestures and poor eye contact when speaking. I never stand with my arms crossed while talking. Even though I am not a big fan of emails and texting, I use them but I still find a way to verbally communicate with what I have sent to make sure it is clearly understood what I said.
The only changes I would make with the way I communicate are that I would use electronic mail more. Mainly because it allows everything to be in writing and easily tracked for checks and balances purposes. But, I love the face to face talks because emails can be misinterpreted in several ways. Another change would be to respond rather than react. This would prevent conflicts and keep folks from blowing off the handle for a misunderstanding.
In conclusion, I have discussed why effective communication is important and what my methods of communication would be and how I would communicate differently.
