The Structural-Functional perspective is the theory that sees society as a complex system. Each of these complex parts work together to create stability and solidarity. Looking at the movie as a whole; each situation was complex in its own way, but was connected in a way that each situation would not have happened without the other. The investigation of a dead boy in a field is the how the movie begins. The area is blocked off due to this investigation. An Asian woman is furious and is yelling at a cop when a female investigator gets out of her car and mocks this woman’s diction. A cop that will be later described was the killer of this young black boy. He shot the boy in his car after picking him up on a cold winter night. Him and the boy talked and had good conversation but when the conversation gets uneasy the cop gets on edge. They boy reached for something in his pocket and the cop assumed he was going to shoot him and instead the cop shot the boy. He pulled alongside the road and drug him into a field. He then took his car to an abandoned part of town and set fire to it. In another scene, a gun shop manager is about to make a sale to what he thinks is an Arab man and his daughter. They speak amongst themselves in their native language and the owner assumes that they are terrorists, but allows the sale of the gun. The assumed Arabs are really Persian.
