Functions of Management Paper

There are four functions of management that we use every day. These factors are key to a manager’s success and in turn the overall organization. The four functions are planning, organizing, leading and controlling. Being that I am a lead teacher at Rainbow Academy, these are four elements I use every day. Of all four of these management functions, planning is the most fundamental. All other functions stem from it. Planning involves choosing tasks that must be performed to attain organizational goals, outlining how the tasks must be performed, and indicating when they should be performed. Planning is concerned with the success of the organization in the short term as well as in the long term. I personally have to precisely plan each day ahead of time in order for my classroom to run smoothly and efficiently. We have to outline the plan for the day, and I have to make sure these things get done. For example our schedule for every day is usually the same. Eight o’clock in the morning we have breakfast. Then we have circle time at nine o’clock, and snack at ten o’clock. After that we have free play/an art activity. Twelve o’clock we have lunch and from one o’clock to three o’clock is nap time. When the children wake up it is snack time from three thirty to four and then free time till parents come to pick up. I have to make sure everything is complete before the parents start arriving to pick up the children. In other words I am organizing. The organizing function can be thought of as assigning the tasks developed in the planning stages to either yourself or others. Within an organization people are specific assignments to contribute to the companies goals. Tasks are organized that the output of each individual contributes to the success of departments, in turn, contributing to the overall success of the company. How does one make this happen?
