Genetic Manipulation: the Good the Bad the Ugly

Genetic Manipulation: the Good the Bad the Ugly.
The good, the bad, and the ugly these are the things we think of when talking about genetic manipulation. Genetic manipulation has the ability to show the good in saving lives, but also show the bad and ugly with greed and the unknown.
The Good that comes with Genetic manipulation is it has the ability to save a life. Chemo is a form of genetic manipulation, which helps cancer patient get better and healthier with each treatment. They also use radiation for the game purpose. This purpose is to give life to someone who is dying. This is why transplants are a good form of genetic manipulation. With every good though there is a bad and that’s the unknown.
The unknown is a scary thing when it comes to genetic manipulation. The unknown is that we don’t know all the side effects that come along with it. Fukuyama states “it took nearly two hundred and seventy before Dolly was successfully cloned” (676). The risk that a person would be taking would just be unethical in today’s society. With risk, causing harm to future generation could be a side effect we do not know yet. The unknown is not even the worst part that would happen with genetic manipulation; never less, greed is.
Greed is an ugly trait. This trait would come out when using genetic manipulation. If genetic manipulation where able to be used today people would be using it more for bad then good. People would use it in the sense of making them the perfect human bean instead of using it to fight off cancer and other deadly disease. Another ugly side with being able to use genetic manipulation would be the rich would only get to use it. This is because the higher the chance of messing up the more money it’s going to cost the person to do the experiment.
I feel in the future that genetic manipulation will be an option. With it being an option thou, our society will turn into an in humane society. Genetic manipulation should stay with chemo and radiation...
