Getting Married

On June 13, 2008 I went from having dinner with my boyfriend and step daughter to getting engaged at the river walk. I knew he was going to ask me to marry him I just didn’t know when or where. As soon as we got engaged I thought about the dream wedding that I planned when I was a little girl. As a little girl I planned my whole wedding, down to the time and location, but as you grow up everything don’t always go as planned.
When I was a little girl I planned my entire wedding. I knew what I was wearing and what my future husband would be wearing also. I even made a dreaming how I wanted to ceremony to be picture and how the reception would take place. When my husband and I got engaged we talked about having a wedding. We even had the idea going on a cruise and getting married. We knew we weren’t finically able to have a big wedding and a reception. So we said we would get married at the courthouse and go on a five day cruise to the Bahamas for our honeymoon.
While making plans for our cruise to the Bahamas, we learned that I was pregnant. I was totally surprised. We still planned to go on the cruise and get married, I didn’t believe just because I was pregnant we had to get married. After my first doctor’s appointment we found out I was due the same day we was suppose to leave on our cruise. I was shocked and upset because I really wanted to go. So, at five months pregnant we decided to go ahead and get married. We planned a couple weeks ahead and went and got married at the courthouse. Although there was no family present for either one of us, it was still one of the happiest days of my life.
The way we got married wasn’t the way I dream I would get married, but at that point in my life it was the right choice for us. I wouldn’t change my decision about getting married at the courthouse but I do plan on having a reception on our anniversary. I still want to celebrate our marriage with family and friends.
