Part A In the first part on chapter 15, they are giving the definition of globalization and explaining the positive and negative influences of it on the world. Globalization focuses on how the changes in purchases of the mass commercialization of goods are made internationally. It is also the domination of world economic affairs and commerce. In general, mainstream economists are those who are in favour with globalisation, and the political economists are the one who disapprove it.Mainstream see the world in which the government plays a limited role, they would argue that the wages and working conditions are better than the wages and working conditions for other jobs in the same country. Globalisation involves not only industrial production, but the industrial production encouraged by the globalization generates foreign exchange to pay for needed import. Therefore, the industrial countries will be benefit. In opposition, political economists are criticizing the existing global structure which they argue favours transnational companies and the privileged in central industrial countries. They favour globalisation of solidarity instead of exploitation and impoverishment. As a result of new restrictions on government actions and their increasing size, transnational companies have become much stronger than most government and have much more freedom of action. The poorer countries have lowered their tariffs on farm products on the promise to the developed markets. Critics argue that institution (such as World Trade Organization – WTO) do not act to protect the weak against the strong. They would also debate that much of the new global economy is not about trade rules but about protection of the existing dominant position of transnational companies.
