Zeyn White L.A. II, Pd. 1 Cyrus December 01, 2008 Truth Truth is what makes the world right but sometimes its not always what people say or do. But the people that bring it out are sometimes the bravest of us all. In the movie good night and good luck, and in the book Fahrenheit 451 the protagonists are both in fear and could possibly lose there jobs or lives, because they bring out the truth about their government. In Fahrenheit 451 Guy Montag is a firefighter who burns books, and destroys tales of old. Right after the stories introduction Montag undergoes many life changing events and feelings, for example he meets a girl that opens his eyes to the real world. During that time his wife attempts suicide and his friend dies, also his boss threatens his life and his job. In Good Night and Good Luck Edward is a news reporter for CBS, whose job is threatened because the government thinks he is a communist because he and his boss try to expose McCarty as a fear monger. For example in one scene he is approached by a man with a top secret document and tells him to be careful because he is being watched and possibly blacklisted by the government. Towards the end of the movie Edward reports about the communism threats. They both reveal truth in their situations because they reveal the suppression of what the government wants kept secret. In Montages case he reads the books that he is supposed to be burning and they opens up his mind to the world and he reveals the truth when he kills his captain and leaves his city and his wife to go live with a tribe of book readers that have their own form of society. Then in (names) case he opens truth in the world be revealing the communism threat that the government has blanked over the united states. In both cases truth is revealed by the protagonists in an awkward way. This shows that the people who are true can be life savers, and try to expose their corrupt system for what it really is.
