In this essay I will talk about a book I have recently read it is the autobiography of Gregor Townsend it is called “Gregor Townsend Talk of the Toony”. It is his life story from the first time he picked up a rugby ball to his controversial opinions on where the SRU has gone wrong. I will also be talking about how the book is good for readers and aspiring rugby players of all ages.
The book is about Gregor Townsend the most caped Scottish rugby player in history up until recently. In the book it says how he first started playing rugby at the age of seven to play in the Gala Ward sevens tournament. He also states how it feels to represent Scotland for the first time at the age of 15. There are also quite a few hilarious stories throughout the book as well. It also says what it is like to score the winning try against France so Scotland would be crowned as five nations champions. He also talks about clubs he has played for in five different countries, also gives details about his very last professional match for the Boarder Rivers. At the very end of the book it talks about his views on the decisions the SRU have made with professional rugby and the lack of funding from the government. He gives his views on what would make Scotland better at international level. My favourite part of the book was Gregor going over his rugby world cup 2003 diary. He goes into a lot depth when he talks about it.

A key point of the book is that it would expand the reader’s vocabulary as very good advanced vocabulary throughout the book. This would be key to children’s written work getting better. He also uses quotes very well throughout the book, having quotes from news papers and some important people. The book would also be good tool for aspiring rugby players, as it would give an insight to all the goings on in the world when you become a pro rugby player. In the book it discuses some...
