Hamlet Essay
William Shakespeare, a profound author, writer, and actor is the most famous writer ever to written in English. Many of his works were not published until after his death in 1616 including Hamlet.
Hamlet was the Prince of Denmark, his father was the king but, he died before the play begins. Hamlets uncle, Claudius has taken over as king and married his mother Gertrude. At the beginning a ghost appears to soldiers. He looks just like Hamlets father the dead king. The soldiers agree to tell Hamlet.
Claudius tells Hamlet he needs to stop acting so sad about his father’s death. Hamlet tells Claudius that he will do just that. However, when he is alone he says that he is disgusted, with the marriage of his mother and Claudius. Hamlets girlfriend is Ophelia. Her father Polonious and her brother Laertes try to convince her that Hamlet doesn’t lover her. They point out that because he is the prince he can’t marry whoever he wants. They think he is more likely to seduce her than marry her. Ophelia agrees not to talk to Hamlet anymore.
Hamlet sees the ghost who says he is Hamlets father. He also says that Claudius murdered him by pouring poison in his ear. Hamlet swears to take revenge. He mentions to the soldiers that in the future he may find it useful to act as if he is crazy.
Ophelia tells her father Polonius that Hamlet came to see her after she returned his love letters. Ophelia says that he was acting crazy. His clothes were messed up, he was pale and trembling and he looked scared. Polonius now thinks that Hamlet really did love Ophelia and he’s gone mad because she rejected him.
Claudius and Gertrude ask Rosencrantz and Guildenstern his schoolmates to come and spend time with him to find out why he’s been acting insane, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern try to cheer Hamlet up by telling him a group of...
