Hate Crime or Child's Play

“Hate crime or child’s play”
Some have been calling it “Child’s play” or an act of innocent violence, for others it a “Hate crime” and murder nothing less. If a child of 15 years old is shot point blank it is not simply two kids playing around it is a hate crime. Hate crimes in this case aren’t those of race, weight, or any others of those matters. The big issue for this hate crime is gay discrimination; which include crimes against those who are bi-sexual, gay, or transsexual. In the case of Lawrence king, a victim of such hate crimes, we will discuss the story of Lawrence King as well as the cause and the effects of these heinous crimes.
As far as hate crimes against those who are bi-sexual, gay, or transsexual the most recent crime that has been on the news lately is one of 15 Year old Lawrence King that tragically ended back in 2008. Young King an innocent Eighth grader who was identified as gay because he wore makeup and nail polish was frequently teased and bullied, unfortunately for King no one was around to see how the other kids treated him or at least no one in his life cared enough to do anything about the hazing and tormenting. On February 12 2008 Lawrence King was shot point blank in the head, in his classroom full of classmates in Oxnard, California. Local police found that this shooting was the result of ruthless teasing and harassing. The Shooter of young Lawrence was non-other than his 14 year old classmate Brandon Mcinerney. Mcinerney has been charged with first-degree murder and with a hate crime. According To the Los Angeles Times and KTLA news station, Mcinerney and other boys often taunted and tormented King about his sexuality. These occurrences of harassment and torment were not few and far in between but rather quite frequent in the happenings. Part of the tragedy of this sad and tragic story is that none of King’s tormentors knew that King had no home let alone a safe home for him to return to. King was currently living a shelter...
