In young adulthood, the foundation for lifelong physical functioning is laid. Health may in part be influenced by the genes, but behavioral factors: what young adults eat, whether they get enough sleep, how physically active they are, and health and well-being. Poverty and racial discrimination also contribute to disparities in health.
In young adulthood, psychological maturity may depend on such achievements as discovering one’s identity, becoming independent of parents, developing a system of values, and forming relationships. Some psychologists suggest that the onset of adulthood is marked, not by external criteria, but by such internal indicators as a sense of autonomy, self-control, and personal responsibility, that it is more a state of mind than a discrete event. From this point of view, some people never become adults, no matter what their chronological age.
I am in the group of young adults now, and I think I am quite healthy both physically and psychologically. Basically I don’t have any medical problem, both of my parents are very healthy, so I think I should have good genes from them. I know about good health habits, for example, I do regular physical health check every year. I know how to prevent back injuries which often result from overexertion in lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects. I know how to prevent infection based on good hygiene. I maintain a good life style: eat healthy food, do some physical exercises every week, have adequate sleep everyday, and never use alcohol and drugs, never smoking. From psychological, I don't have any mental medical problem, I achieved the psychological maturity. I experienced normative life events such like marriage, parenthood, working, etc. I experienced these events quite on time, not earlier or later.
