Health Care Utilization Option 1

Health care in our country is a much talked about topic and the president in office now is trying to make it easier for all people to afford to get the care they need. Recent presidential elections have been used to push health care reform but no body seems to ever come to an agreement for all to push forward. In the next paragraphs I will discuss ways recent health care reform measures have expanded or inhibited access to health care. Also checking on how changes to access may lead to influences in utilization. Concepts of what universal health care may be and how current care reflects or contrasts with it and a little on my experience with health care expansion.

The Affordable Care Act was made a law to give all people access too health care at a price that they can afford as well as keeping the prices from constantly rising. This Act was not liked by many to start with but it has given more patients access to make choices on which insurance company to go with after comparing their options. It also helped to cover pre-existing conditions and preventive services which were not offered before. Parents could not keep coverage on their dependents after they reached a certain age and that has been raised to the age of 26 which keeps many students still covered when they wouldn’t have been before. This Act was put into active use this year and has caused many employers to try and get around some of the costs that will affect them. They have started cutting the number of people they have employed and simply adding work onto the ones they decide to keep. If they keep their numbers under fifty they don’t have to pay the extra tax increases. This seems like a bad means to an end though because then you have more people out of work and on unemployment.
