Conflict with Modern Health
Hot dogs, hamburgers, fries and all other fattening food have high number of calories artificial flavors and Trans fats are bad and can affect the body. Over the past three decades obesity has become a massive problem in the U.S. It has been proven that most Americans have been diagnosed with diabetes type one and two. People are not eating healthy or exercising and are getting obese every day. Therefore the state has made a law that helps people prevent obesity and help them with their health. Others think that the state is trying to tell them what to do and what not to do, in other words they control what people eat or drink. Jefferson would say “prudence, indeed, will dictate that governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes.” The consumption of people being obese can be the cause of not only food but also the lack of exercise like stress or depression can all be the cause of people being obese. People have to take care of themselves and think also after themselves the state is not responsible for their acts but try’s to be the parents of the citizens that is why it is called the “Nanny state”. New York introduced a soda ban law but some think tax would be better. Mississippi bans the restriction on food proportions. Food marketing to youth is very intellectual.
In New York, Mayor Bloomberg declared on banning sodas or drinks larger than sixteen ounces at any establishment. “Judge Tingling heavily criticized the NYC soda ban’s legal standing from a standpoint of the authority of the NYC Board of Health, noting the failed rules contained loopholes so large as to “defeat and/or serve to gut the purpose the rule.”(inquisitr) Sixty percent of the ones who participated rejected the law.
