Pd. 1, Health
The video What About Bob was a great way to show on managing stress in different ways. One of the essential aspects in living a healthy life is to be able to control stressors in our lives. This is widely manifested in the lives of the main character in the movie, Bob, who has a habit of intolerable incompliance, and his stickler of a boss, Dr. Leo Marvin. These two cumbersome individuals, who just can’t stand to rise to the challenge of each other, try to handle their day-to-day stressors throughout the whole movie.
Bob’s stress in the beginning of the movie is being antisocial. He tends to hate going outside because he has a fear of diseases. To ameliorate the problem, he goes and sees Dr. Leo Marvin who tells him that he needs a vacation. Bob reliefs himself of his stress by telling himself that he is great and a better person and that he shouldn’t be afraid to go outside because life is filled with aesthetical commodities. He ends up, however, in the doctor’s house where he spends some time to appease his mind, which in turn caused the doctor some stressors of his own. Dr. Marvin, as he sees Bob having some quality time with his family and with them growing a liking and connection to him, he gets irritated. As his children try to accuse him of insensitivity and ignoring his demands, he refuses to acquiesce and gets quite aggressive in terms of loud shouting and signs of hostility. To mitigate his stressors, all he does is he keeps on smiling constantly after preventing himself from global meltdown, and frequently insists to Bob that he stipulates his need for a serene sentiment. Bob’s immutable behavior did not really medicate the scar that the doctor was already feeling in his heart. And so, after Bob’s mischievous, act of reform in what was to be Dr. Leo Marvin’s great career opportunity, the doctor goes overboard and vehemently kicks Bob out of the house.
Dealing with stress is something...
