My project will be about late actor Heath Ledger. It will be a detailed analysis about his life and death. I selected Heath Ledger because I felt was a very interesting celebrity. Originally I wasn’t entirely sure about who to choose because I didn’t really want to make another project based on the life of someone who didn’t really have much of an impact on my life. I can think of a lot of really profound people, but no one in my eyes was really worth making a project on. I chose Ledger, because he is one of the most interesting celebrities that I have ever seen. I began to really become interested in his life after his death in 2008. He had a really unique way of looking at his career and really had a personal struggle with trying deal with it. One of the films that I look to from his that really made me say that this was an amazing actor was one of his last films, The Dark Knight. Heath Ledger had a way of getting entirely lost in his performances and really becoming the character. In the Dark Knight, he played the villain, The Joker, Batman’s greatest foe. In the film he brought a new energy to the film that I’ve never seen. It’s really impressive when an actor can play such a cynical antagonist and yet make the character one of the most likable characters in the film. I’ve always been a Batman fan, ever since I was a little kid I watched the animated series, collected toys, and read tons of comics and graphic novels. The Joker has also been my favorite villain from the series. I also grew up the Batman movies, even the ones in the 80’s and 90’s. I watched the Adam West T.V. show, even though I must admit, I didn’t quite like the shows and movies as much as I liked the comics, because I felt that they were such commercialized versions of the actual Batman. One of the main things, which I didn’t like, was the characterizations of the protagonist and the antagonist in the films and shows.
