Academic and Professional Motivation

Motivation is the reason or reasons one has for acting or behaving in a particular way. It is the general desire or willingness of people to do something. Motivation is what causes an individual to act, whether it is exercising to lose weight or as simple as to eating candy to feed your craving. For example, I was offered a Home Depot gift card and four movie tickets at the end of the month for completing a specific project giving to me as a reward for meeting the targeted deadline. We use this technique to boost employee’s moral and to motivate them.
There are two types of motivation, Intrinsic and Extrinsic. Intrinsic Motivation is what comes from within the individual, like staying at work late simply because you love doing your job. Extrinsic Motivation is what the individual needs, like recognition, praise or a reward. Also, there are other office manager’s whose salary is higher than mine who has only been working for a year. Because they have a degree they are starting with a higher salary. These situations have motivated me to earn a degree for a higher salary.
