Help Make A Difference!
Bill McKibben wrote “The Environment Issue from Hell” to argue the fact that our environment needs to change. He uses cause and effect to say if we don’t change, global warming will take over and effect the next generation to come. McKibben says, “Fifteen years into our understanding of climate change, we have yet to figure out how we’re going to tackle it”. Even environmentalists are clueless as anyone else, according to McKibben.
It’s ridiculous that no one has discovered a solution to global warming. There are several groups dedicated to help the environment, but that’s not good enough. People don’t understand how serious global warming can be. If we don’t do something soon the climate will drastically change, birds and other animals will die, and the air will become polluted. It’s time that people take consideration in the environment instead of polluting it more.
Using argumentation McKibben says “most of us live lives so divorced from the natural world that we hardly notice the changes anyway”. His reasoning is that people don’t notice the climate change because as it gets hotter they just turn their air up. Also, as the storms get worse people have their office parking space and remote-controlled garage so they don’t get wet. When people finally realize how bad global warming is getting, it will be to late for changes. Sad to say, this is absolutely true, and it also makes our country look bad.
Not only does global warming effect people, but it also effects the coral reef and polar wildlife. McKibben states that, rising water temperatures will likely bleach the coral reef to extinction by mid-century. As the ice melts it makes life harder for polar wildlife. For example, polar bears are struggling to survive in this environment because it is harder to find food. There is even a commercial on TV dedicated to preventing polar bear extinction.
Putting commercials on TV to address the issue on extinction may sound like a good...
