Dear English 91 students,
I will be writing a letter to prepare you for your upcoming semester. This letter contains information that will be useful to the student’s knowledge in succeeding in English 91. I will be speaking about what to expect from the class and what teacher will expect from you. I will be using my personal experiences to guide you through a successful semester.
English 91 is not such a difficult class; most of the assignments are interesting and can also open up your mind. We’ve done reading, writing, and talking in the class. Those three categories helped me increase my knowledge and improve my reading and writing level, and I think it has done the same to other classmates. We read all kinds of genres, everything from sci-fi to fairytales. Yes, I did say fairytales I was just as surprised as you are. Fairytales in college I asked myself. This must be a very easy course. On the contrary it’s not as easy as I thought. Reasons why is that everything you do for this course is time consuming. Which was very hard for me since I work almost everyday and get off of work at about 1:30 in the morning. You’re probably wondering when does he have time to do his assignments. Sometimes in school I would skip a class just to do my homework or sometimes I wouldn’t go to sleep at all that day. You have to be dedicated to your school work.
In this course it is mandatory to do writing assignments. In the entire semester every student must complete three essays and with each essay you must follow up with three drafts as well. This is to show how you progress yours skills and knowledge in your class. Most of our essays are summaries or an analysis of a novel or a short story. We have read Edgar Allan Poe who is a very difficult author to understand but like I said before it is still interesting. Also we have read Oscar Wilde books. I have done essays on Oscar Wilde books, fairytale pictures, much more.
