What is Breast Cancer?
• Breast cancer is the common term for a malignant tumor that starts in the cells
that line the ducts and lobes of the breast. A malignant tumor is a group of cancer
cells that invade surround tissues or spread to other areas of the body. This disease
can affect both men and women, however it is more commonly found in women
rather than men.
Types of Breast Cancer

Most breast cancers are cancers that start in
the epithelial cells that line tissues and organs
such as the breast, also known as, carcinomas.
Many cancers in fact, are called
adenocarcinoma, which is a type of carcinoma .
This type of carcinoma starts in glandular
tissue.
Sarcomas are other types of cancers that occur
and start in the cells of connective tissue,
adipose(fat), as well as muscle.
• There is the Ductal carcinoma in situ(DCIS) this
type of cancer mean that cells that have lined up
the ducts have transformed themselves to look
like cancer cells. DCIS is considered pre-cancer
because there have been known that some
cased have gone on to become invasive cancers.
• This next one almost always breaks through the
wall ad grows into the fat tissue of the breast. It
is called Invasive ductal carcinoma(IDC), this is
seem most commonly.
• Invasive lobular carcinoma (ILC): this one can be
spread to other arears in the body just like IDC.
ILC starts in the lobules, slow known as the milk
producing glands. It is harder to find this
particular type on s mammogram rather than
IDC.
Signs & Symptoms
• A new mass (lump) on the breast
• Swelling of a section of the breast or
all, even though no new lump is...
