Many people associate these words with Spanish speaking individuals that are from another country such as Mexico or Spain. In fact these are just a few places of where Latino’s or Hispanics come from. The most popular Latino groups in America are Mexican Americans, Puerto Ricans and also Cubans. The reason these groups are all considered Latino or Hispanic is because of the language they speak but in reality these groups are very different from eachother. Not only do they come from different areas of the world but there cultural differences are a factor as well as politicals values. Another large group that is making their way to the United States are immigrants and refugees from Central and South America. There was a time in history that these particular groups were all identified by all being called “Mexicans”. Back than it didn’t matter where you came from it mattered what color your skin was or what your accent was like when you spoke. The world has come a long way to be able to identify these different groups. On the other hand we still have people that don’t know that difference and continue to “lable” these different groups. Mexican Americans are one of the largest growing Latino or Hispanic groups in the United States. So how do you identify Mexican Americans? Can you tell by the language they speak? Can you see from the clothes they wear or the color of their skin? Mexicans Americans have different characteristics that identify themselves but it is not much different from anybody else. Throughout time many things have changed within the Mexican American community. Some would say that different areas of the United States is “more Mexican” than other parts. I feel that people will identify themselves as whatever they were brought up as. I am Hispanic and I was brought up by my family as a Mexican American but...
