For this essay I interviewed Linda Robertson, wife of the pastor at my church. In 1 Timothy Ch. 3, Paul states the requirements of pastors, deacons, and their wives. Mrs. Linda thinks that all pastors must be self- controlled. Lots of pastors now lack that quality. They talk bad about others in their church, see other women besides their wife, they are not able to maintain the faith in his own household, etc. Some of them are even recent converts to Christianity. Deacons also should be respectable, and if they don’t respect others, no one reacts them.
Preachers and deacons need to be tested. My church has a process of choosing pastors and deacons that Mrs. Linda and I think isn’t a very good process. In our church, we invite a pastor and his family to our church and he preaches two sermons, one in the morning and one at night. Usually the next Sunday, all the adults that are members of the church vote on the preacher. Since I’m not allowed to vote on this, I’m not sure on how the votes are counted. But, if the pastor doesn’t get enough votes, he doesn’t become our preacher. Mrs. Linda and I think the pastor that is visiting should get more than one Sunday to preach to us. It’s not enough time to decide if he is the right person for our church. We also think that it’s very important to rely on God while making your choice, instead of just voting on if you liked him or not.

She told me it is often very hard to be 100% faithful in the things she comes across. But, she always remains faithful to her husband and family. She tries daily to keep herself from slandering others and being dignified.
She also thinks that we are now living in the last days. Paul says in 2 Timothy Ch. 3 that in the last days difficult times will come. People now are lovers of...
