Homophobic Hip Hop

The two issues I believe that are present In hip hop today are homophobia and Gender equality. These two issues have recently made in uproar in the hip hop industry and has come to the attention of the public. People now are voicing their opinions towards these two issues.
Hip Hop has always been represented by artist in a homophobic way. Watching and listening to songs such as Dance (Ass) by big Sean and Big Booty by Ca$h Out only promote men’s Masculinity with women them in negative ways. Recently, artist such as Frank Ocean has stepped out and admitted to being a homosexual. The public has then supported Frank and his decision to come out, but hip hop rapper Snoop Lion has stated in an interview with The Guardian, that “Frank Ocean aint no rapper. Hes a singer, its acceptable in the singing world but in the rap world I don’t know if it will ever be acceptable because rap Is so masculine. Its like a football team. You cant be in the locker room full of motherfucking tough ass dudes, then all of sudden say Hey man, I like you. You know that’s going to be tough.” To help solve this issue, young artists like Macklemore and Ryan Lewis have supported the LGBT group by recording a song called “Same Love” to express their thoughts about being a Homosexual today and understanding how hard it can be for them. If other artists show their support through their music or the media, then it will help control and minimize the issue and the concept will start to be accepted more in the Hip Hop Indusry.
The Second issue I believe is still present in hip hop is Gender Equality. Just like I stated earlier, Hip Hop has always been known to be a very Masculine industry. Women barely get any credit or appreciation for their efforts in this industry. Female artist such as Beyonce, Queen latifah, Missy Elliot, Rihanna, Lil Kim, Lil Mama and Nicki Minaj are just a few very well known female artist in this industry, but regardless of their success, they still seem to fall short...
