This filter is usually located near the location ofthe oil plug, but a little farther up on the engine. You may want to look at the new filter for reference to help you identify the size and shape of the old one. Once the filter is found, you should place the filter wrenchover the filter. You will also turn the filter counter-clockwise to loosen. Make sure you get the oil bucket underneath the filter once you get it loose. Now that the old filter is off, you are ready to put the new one on right away. Before you put it on, I recommend rubbingsome oil around the seal on the top of the filter. This helps make a good seal between the engine and the filter so there aren’t anyleaks. When screwing the filter on, you should be turning it clockwise;and you should only tighten it hand tight. If you tighten the filter with the wrench, it will be very difficult to loosen the filter the next time. Next, you need to replace the oil plug. Turn the plug clockwise and tighten it with the correct size wrench. Once the plug is back in place, you have finished your work underneath the vehicle. Don’t forgetto pull all your tools out with you. Next,open up the hood of your vehicle. The hood latch is located underneath the dash on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Pull this lever and thehood will pop. Move to the front of the vehicle to release the hood from the safety latch located inthe front-center of the hood. Reach underneath the hood and pull the yellow lever to release the latch. Simultaneously, pull up on the hood so it will rise. Place the hood prop underneath the hood to hold it up. Now enterthe vehicle and start the engine to circulate the oil. At this time,you can back the vehicle off the ramps. After about a minute or two,shut the motor off and check the oil again.
