Do you think your college needs more campus security? What has my college done to ensure security? Any college should have a mock emergency day so that all students get trained in such situations because security is an important thing in campuses. It is said that at least 74 school shootings have occurred in the US since December 2012 (Every town for Gun safety),”there were about 45 school associated violate deaths (not just by guns) at elementary and secondary schools each year between the 1992 and 2010 school years, the highest annual total was 63 deaths in 2006 to 2007, while the lowest was 31 in 2010 to 2011.” Professor James fox of North Eastern University (2013 indicators of school crime and safety report)
Canton schools adopted a new program called ALICE program; for many years all school students were taught this program. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, counter, Evacuate. This program was taught in Canton High school and Blue Hills Regional Technical school canton. Students are trained to make active decisions, such as barricading classroom doors, coordinating on the spot evacuation. The critics say you are teaching little kids to fight? No. there are age appropriate ways to go about this kind of training, aid Canton police Detective chip Yeaton, a school resource officer and father pf four who said he is committed to spreading the program, we are teaching them options. So far, the best level of training students have had is to go lock down the doors and wait.
