HR Problem Solving Paper Heather
When I started at the company, I was told by other employees the training program was not very good. Also orientation was only done once a month so you are there a full month before you actually had the orientation. So it shows the training orientation for new employees is not where it should d be if they make people wait that long before they learn any background of the company. My personal experience of starting at my company included minimal training. I started working and my first day I reported to my manager. He then just sat me with someone and said to watch what they do that I won’t have a desk for a while so he will just have me sit with people for awhile. I liked that I got hands on experience butI just sat at the other employee’s desk. There were no extra head phones for me to listen to calls and how we are supposed to talk to customers and the way things are handled. So you basically just sat there till there was some kind of paperwork to be done. As I sat with different people I noticed not one person did a procedure the same way. Everyone had a different as to why they did things their way. I learned five different ways to do one thing and then when I would sit with the next person they would say oh don’t do things the way you just learned and would say it was incorrect. So by the end of the week I was completely confused on how to do things. There were no training manuals for me to reference and anyone I asked had a different answer. So after two weeks I finally got told I would be having orientation. Orientation lasted two and half days. It was educational on a global basis for understanding the company and the benefits. Then they had a bunch of speakers but they never stated how our job was tied into these global units. I think it should have been on level of what was done in the United States opposed to spending so much time on the global aspect. I found myself wondering what a lot of the presentations really...
