Human Services Communication Scenario Analysis
Scenario Analysis:
Mae is a 13 year-old Caucasian female who has been placed into the foster care system. Two siblings were also placed in the system. Both parents were present in the home at the time. Neither worked but live on disability. There have been many absences from school throughout the year. When entering the home, Child Protective Services found that there was an inadequate amount of food in the home. All three children were unkempt and lacked in proper clothing. Mae has been acting out while in placement either in attitude or in a physical manner. She has threatened and attempted to run away multiple times. As of right now she is in dire need for guidance, and care.

Background:
Mae was raised by both of her parents. She has three siblings, she is the oldest. There is family present; however they are unable to provide any stability or home life either. She has been taking care of two of her younger siblings for the last few years to the best of her ability. One sibling, another female, was placed into the system seven years ago and has been unheard from since. She and her family live in a poor area, crime, drugs and gang activity is prevalent. She enjoys school, when able to attend, has friends. Grades are fair to good.

Purpose:
This interview is to provide further information in regards to home life and the changes that have been made. It is also important that she is given a safe environment to feel free to speak of her life, family, friends, and feelings. Knowing all of these things can help in the placement of Mae into a foster home that would be beneficial for her. It is also important to find out if she is okay emotionally and physically, should any criminal charges need to be made.
Though unwillingly, Mae has come to meet with a case worker that works with the Department of Children’s Services. She has yet to speak a word to anyone in regards to her home life or anything else for...
