If Today Was My Last Day

Literacy is a big part of our lives. Having strong literacy skills, will help me have a more probable chance in having a good life when it comes to work and participating in society. If I did not have any literacy skills, it would be a major struggle to take part in the world around me and I possibly would fail to reach my full potentials. Literacy is like a thread, it links all aspects of life together in our complex world. It is also like a bike, it can involve basic or complex skills. Different pieces of literature such as books, songs, and short stories, can impact people’s lives and send out a reminder about the meaning of life. My life has been impacted by a piece of literature, a song called, “If Today Was Your Last Day,” by the band Nickelback.
The whole point of this song is to be open minded and send out a message about living life to the fullest, that life is too short, choose to be happy in life, do not let other people put me down, and do not be afraid to take a risk. Make the most out of my life as if any day could be my last. I am sometimes afraid of living life to the fullest because of what other people think. I should not take the people in my life for granted because in reality, one day they will not be there anymore and all that I will be left with are memories like, “What if?” I will not forget about my old friends as well as my new friends. I am going to be happy for who I am and what I stand for.
After hearing this song for the first time, it made realize to never give up and that it is never too late. It actually made me think to have a happy life and enjoy as much of it as I can. I need to take advantage of all the time I have in my life and make it worth the while because I do not know when my last day will arrive.
