Over the years, the view of the American Dream has changed its meaning. People came to America in search of a new life, to be free, or to express their own beliefs and ideas to others without being penalized for what they believe in. My view of the American Dream is that all people in America should be considered equal, that everyone here should have the same equal opportunities to reach a certain goal, not just by a person’s background or how they appear to someone else. Of course, over the years, people have found ways to get around these ideals, by making a few restrictions and laws that make people have to meet specific “requirements” to obtain their own goals and dreams. I think that it is absolutely ridiculous that people that want the same goal cannot reach it because of how much people have “bended” the American Dream.
America is basically a country with people from all over the world. The reason for that is because they either want or wanted freedom and the freedom to practice their own religions and beliefs. Although, when these immigrants came to America, not everything was as it seemed. Some came not realizing that they needed experience to get a good job and most importantly, an education. Of course, most immigrants did come to get an education in this country, at the same time getting a job that someone could be proud of when someone would complete their education (at whatever level they would be comfortable with). My mother’s family came to America from the Dominican Republic because her parents wanted her and her siblings to have the education they never had, and to ultimately have a much better life. They left to America at an older age, so her and her whole family already had enough experience and a good education to get a good job that they wanted to get and to start their own families and further create a new life.
