The story is mainly about a teenage boy, who talks about his life and incidents that happens to him. His name is Christopher; he lives with his father as he recently lost his mom. He is really smart; however, he does not have good social skills that make him special. He starts his story by the death of the neighbour's dog, which motivates him to write a book. He starts to investigate and find out who killed the dog. During this investigation he has to make contacts with other neighbours. However, Christopher has to stop his investigation upon his dad's request. His dad is worried that his son gets into trouble. Farther in the book Christopher mentions he likes Sherlock Holmes and he talks about one of the books that he really likes. That is the reason he starts to investigate for the murderer of the neighbour's dog. So far he thinks Mr. Shears is the killer (ex-husband of the dog owner) and he founds more information about him. As a result, he finds out about the relationship of his mom with Mr. Shear from one the neighbours. However, this news does not really upset him because his mom is dead and he will not see Mr. Shears anymore. Christopher also talks about his interests. He mentions he loves math and physics and likes to be an astronaut on day. He also includes some math problems in the book which engages the reader and makes it amusing. There is an interesting fact about Christopher, he is a genius but he has some issues and he talks about them frequently in the book. He says three red cars in a row make his day a good day and three yellow cars make it a black day because he like red and hates yellow. He hits people if they touch him. Actually, he does that with a police officer and gets arrested. He does not like to be in a room with someone else or he does not eat the food if they touch each other on the plate.
