During the 1890’s to 1920’s Canada experienced a major change that shaped what Canada is in the 21st century. This is the period in history is when Industrialization first made its full impact on the country. Industrialization is the adoption of industrial methods of production and manufacturing by a country or group, with all the associated changes in lifestyle, transport, and other aspects of society. From the definition, you can tell that industrialization impacted many important aspects of Canada. It is how it created the country Canada that is known now. Someone might be wondering the following questions about Industrialization. Was Industrialization the right thing to fulfill the way Canada will grow? Was it positive or negative? I think it was positive.
As you know, the 1890’s to 1920’s made a big impact positively. During this time, automobiles were being created, electricity was being used, and immigrants were immigrating to Canada to work or to live a better life. Farmlands were being sold and many people decided to live in the cities, like Toronto or Montreal. Therefore, houses and advertising items were being sold very quickly. To be able to earn the money to pay for the merchandise, they had to work, mainly in factories. You can tell that this was a very busy time in history.
To fully understand Industrialization and what are the positives and negatives of Industrialization, I completed a task. The task consisted of researching a status of a group of people then creating an artifact. I did my artifact on immigrants using different pictures and creating a photo journal. Using pictures can really show what the immigrants looked like and what their living conditions were akin to. Also, they are a type of primary sources. Other students had to complete an artifact as well. We all shared our knowledge about our specific group of people. There were people who had a very good life and some who didn’t. By...
