In order for a small business to be successful there must be an interaction with technology. The amount of success that businesses see is due in large part to technology. Technology will help the business run far smoother and more efficiently. By using computer systems to assist in day-to-day operations of the business the business itself will benefit greatly in profits, customer satisfaction and product placement.
There are many computer systems that many businesses both big and small use to aid in running the day to day operations. A few of those systems commonly used are; Functional Are IS systems, Office Automation Systems, Decision Support Systems, Expert Systems and Executive Dashboard Systems. These five computer systems will help in the running of a business from not only a financial standpoint but also from a professional standpoint. The five operating systems listed above make it a lot easier to run a business because the information is readily available once applied to the system and the system will then in turn compute the data into various forms of business criteria.

The Functional Area IS System is a computer software system that is designed to support various activities within a functional area. An example of a very good use for this particular system would be to use it when conducting payroll.
