What is integrity? How is integrity used in our daily lives? What can happen if integrity in an individual is lost? Why is integrity very important? Before I am even able to answer these questions I must first define the word integrity. Then I will explain it in real world examples. Next I will define it as taught in the Army Values. And finally explain how many leaders in the United States Army feel it is the most important value of the seven army values.
Integrity : (in-teg-ri-ty) noun
1. :firm adherence to a code especially moral or artistic values : INCORRUPTIBILITY
2. : an unimpaired condition : SOUNDNESS
3. : the quality or state of being compared or undivided : COMPLETENESS
Example of INTEGRITY
1. He's a man of the highest integrity.
2. I admire her artistic integrity.
3. She had the integrity to refuse to compromise on matters of principle.
4. Without music, the film loses its integrity.
5. They are trying to preserve the cultural integrity of the community.
6. The earthquake may have damaged the building's structural integrity.

So as I listed the textbook definition of integrity above now I will do my best to put it in my own words. I feel that integrity is being a honest and caring person. I think that it also means that if you have integrity then you are a trustworthy person in how you work and earn a living. How you treat your family and friends. Also how you handle business that is professional and personal. I feel that trust is what makes integrity the powerful word that it represents. I think that the “golden rule” and integrity work together in society. The golden rule states that you should treat other the way you would like to be treated.
