Reflective essay for the Intercultural Management

In this essay, firstly I will evaluate the course and the articles which I have studied to answer the question of what are the new things for me to understand cross-cultural relations and manage the intercultural relations. After that I will think deeply about how this information effects my future development. Lastly, the bibliography of whole essay will be written in the end of this article.

Evaluation for the course

This course is the first time for me to study the cross cultural management theoretically and systematically. It showed me a blueprint about the cross cultural management in the future. There are three perspectives I need to mention in the aspect of the understanding of cross cultural management according to the course and article.

First of all, we should have a special focus on the evolution of our understanding of national culture and cultural change. It breaks the Hofsted static and national theory of culture and adds more. In recent years, the different scholars changed identity of culture in a dynamic and borderless way. The ecology, policies, globalization, economy and so on have been the topics to research the culture. They figured out the paradox in culture and realized culture was a set of practices (Bourdieu, 1997). (Bird & Fang, 2009)

Then I will discuss about the conflicts in the culture. Cultures are embedded in every conflict because conflicts arise in human relationships. (LeBaron, 2003) That is why Fang (2011) proposed a Yin Yang perspective to understand culture. This led a new time for the Western scholars to rethink the paradox in culture. And it shows why a paradoxical value can coexist and how the culture can self-select values globally. (Fang, 2011) I think this research solve the problem about how to analyze the culture in globalization and itself. It can be applied into the internal conflicts of national culture but...
