Internal and External Factors
Internal and external factors play a vital role in a business organization. The factors can either help a business thrive or also can be the downfall to that business. Microsoft is a business organization that has thrived from these factors, but also received scrutiny for the matters in which it has conducted business. Microsoft’s XBOX console will be reviewed specifically to determine how these factors have affected the brand.
Microsoft XBOX
In 1999, Microsoft Corporation decided to develop and release a new game console to rival Sony’s PlayStation and Nintendo’s GameCube. The first model of the XBOX did not compete against the rival consoles as Microsoft had predicted. More time and research was needed to ensure the success of the console. Precautionary steps were taken in the development of the second version of the console, XBOX 360. This upgraded console and development in technology would allow Microsoft to compete and take over the gaming industry. Microsoft had to use the four functions of management in order ensure its XBOX 360 console succeeded in the gaming market (Bateman & Snell, 2011).
