Essay II If an international body was to take over National governments, then they would be taking a nations water helping the other nations out. But what does this do to help the Nations that they are taking water from? The world’s water is already limited, and if water is taken out of a country, the country wouldn’t have as much water to support life in that country. So if the international body was to take over, they wouldn’t be able to give enough for every nation. A nation should its sovereignty over their resources. In a nation like Canada, giving up its water can cause a dangerous situation that can lead to a down fall. This is called a slippery slope, which is created in when sovereign right of a nation is taken over or controlled by another. If Canada was to give up their water it will cause a lot for the country and its citizens. Canada should have its own sovereignty over their resources, because if it was shared, then Canada would not have any control over it, and they can be losing water without them even knowing. Then the citizens would be wondering to what is happening to their water. Yes, Canada has water, but since the world is now limited, Canada would have to worry about the situation of losing water as well. Since the world’s water is now limited, how much more for the water in the future. And if the world wants to preserve it then each nation should be accountable for their own resources, nations should not rely on giving up their water for the international body and nations should prioritize sovereignty for their nation. Therefore the world’s water resources should not be taken out of the hands of the hands of national governments and turned into an international body.
