Ron was working at an electrical company as a computer technician. One day at the end of work his manager informed him that the following Monday, Ron would be coming to work one hour early at 6:30 am. Ron was shocked. He was confused about the change. He asked his manager why there was a sudden change in his schedule. His manager told Ron that he didn’t have anyone else to come in that morning due to the person whose spot needed to be covered because the other guy had a DUI and had to take the bus, which made him get to work at a later time. Ron felt frustrated. He came to work the following Monday 6:30 thinking this was a temporary situation. Ron’s manager stood up and said, “Our conversation is over.” Ron restated that he could not come in to work at this time. The manager rebutted and said that Ron could come in but had no desire to come in at this time. This made Ron furious. Standing up, Ron raised his voice to match his manager and once again restated his conflict schedule. His supervisor walked out of the room. The manager did not talk to Ron for the remainder of the day. The next morning Ron showed up to work at his usual time 7:30. Shortly after Ron arrived at work, the IT manager was at Ron’s desk. He questioned Ron as to why he wasn’t at his desk taking calls at 6:30. Apparently, the CIO was having difficulty with the servers and needed immediate assistance.
