1. Explain why you think it is important for patients to play an active role in their own health care. How can the pharmacist’s role be adopted to meet this need?
It is important for patients to play an active role in their own health care in order to know when certain changes occur or take place in their body during medication. It is up to the patient to express those changes and ask questions concerning symptoms of medications and changes they have noticed in their body while taking a particular medication, and also seek for solution from their health care team.
The pharmacist’s role can be adopted to meet this need by counseling on possible side effects and adverse reactions, by monitoring drug response in patients and maintaining safe use of medication.
2. The pharmacist has been at or near the top of many surveys that rank the public’s trust. Pharmacist’s and those who work in a pharmacy strives to behave in a professional manner and communication effectively with the patients they serve. Include in your paragraph a list of five reasons/things you have noticed about the profession of pharmacy and or a/particular pharmacist that make you feel the trust is warranted.
Pharmacists and those who work in a pharmacy strive to behave in a professional manner and communicate effectively with the patients they serve. Five things I have noticed about the profession of pharmacy are:
a. Possession of required skill, knowledge, qualification and capacity.
b. Telling it just as it is, sincerity.
c. They strive to satisfy their patient.
d. Confidential meetings/counseling on private matters.
e. Honesty and loyalty to patients.
