Sex and the City is a modern movie set in the wilds of New York City. As Carrie says “Women come here to find the 2 L’s….Labels and Love” This movie shows friendship, love, and forgiveness at its best and worst. A movie for all us single women to renew hope in our own love lives!
This movie had to be a dramatic film in order to make the events and characters believeable as a whole. It made me feel for each character with the set of problems they were dealing with. Each of the main characters had some form of internal conflict. The characters of Carrie and Big seemed to have a lot of reaction shots between them when it would just be them having a private conversation.
I noticed in just the short amount of time I have been in this class reading about the different aspects of film and the technical terms. I noticed a lot more when I watch a movie. I notice the lighting, costumes and the linear structure. I don’t just watch for entertainment now, I notice the art of the film more. I am able to watch a movie more with an analytical mind. I like being more aware of the art in the movie.
I feel the main idea in this movie is the complexity of each human relationship. Examples of this is Carrie and Big had been dating on and of for ten years. That’s a long time and never getting married. Big was freaking out before the wedding and when he called Carrie to talk to her, she simply said it was him and her and that after ten years there was no way that it could be screwed up anymore. Just him and her. Miranda and Steve were dealing with infidelity issues, not putting each other first in the marriage, but rather careers, kids, and life in general. Miranda having to deal with Steve’s infidelity due to Miranda not making time for him and connecting with him sexually anymore in there crazy lives they were living. It’s like they...
