Introductory Portfolio Writing Assignment
Most people are considered okay writers, but I usually get fours but only because I don’t have to organize anything. Organization is definitely my forte. Though I consider myself a pretty good writer with great ideas, my papers could be better organized; therefore, I have set goals for myself to use the new tools I have learned about.
Everyone is different in writing, different people have different strengths. Some have fewer than others too. When writing I can start out boring but once I get started my imagination is endless and the sky cannot even stop me. Once my imagination is going, I get very dramatic. Drama is definitely my forte. If the assignment involves a low word count, that won’t be a problem at all. I write a lot! I can barely stop. I may be good at these things, but not everyone is perfect.
I have strengths but I definitely have weaknesses as well. When it comes to organizing anything, especially writing, I am very lost and tend not to do very well on it. When I get the papers I have already written and there’s criticism, I usually don’t take it to heart because that’s just how I write. It won’t change. I will not allow these weaknesses to hinder my ability to become a great writer though.
Even though I have my strengths and weaknesses, I won’t stop improving and that’s why I have set goals for myself. I am going to try to shorten my papers because they are usually long, but still be good. I want to be able to organize my ideas orderly before writing my paper. My dramatic nature of the papers should be toned. It can be overwhelming. These are only small goals now, but they will increase in magnitude as time elapses.
I think of myself a good writer, but everyone has room for improvements. In order to improve, I must begin using a graphic organizer. Even with my strengths and weaknesses I still manage to be better and set goals for the future.
