Inventory System

Inventory System

The Multi-Media Department of the Los Angeles Unified School District’s after school program has been growing rapidly during the past three years. The department has divided its sub-divisions based on the proposed projects. The sub-divisions are Computer Linguistics, Video Production, Green Project, Digital Photography/Graphics, ACT, Web Design and News Program. To serve the growing demand of the sub-divisions we designed the following Inventory System. The divisions are unique programs with various equipment needs.
Equipment will be gathered in order to satisfy the divisions (teams) needs. The Inventory system will track each piece of equipment a team checks out. The teams will sign for each item requested. The inventory system will be based on a data base of equipment. The Inventory system uses a customized label based on the standard requirement of LAUSD. Once the setup is complete, the Inventory system will track each item that has been checked out, retired, broken (needs repair) and checked back in.
The Inventory System is based on a Windows platform machine. Using WaspNet barcode and data base software the system will implement a wide range of tasks. Using the Wasp Charged Coupled Device, a hand held scanner, the inventory controller will be able to manage the in-coming and out-going equipment. The custom made barcodes made by WaspNet labeler program will automatically interact with the data base managing software. It could be Microsoft Access or MySQL Express. The database will be managed based on the current status of the equipment. Various items of equipments will be assigned to a specific team and if the equipment fails to perform, the system will automatically retire the equipment and document it. The system is also equipped with wired and wireless hand held devices for the purpose of mobility.
