Faith and Reason in Islam’s Religion
Islam is one of the strictest and hardest religions in the universe. Being a Muslim is not easy. There are so many rules and policies to follow. Not all Muslim people can follow their religion because it is so hard. You don’t have many choices in your life; for example a man can go out at night and come home next day it’s not a big deal, but if a woman goes out at night and doesn’t come home before the day is over she could be in a really big trouble. In some countries, because of that the girl will be killed. It is especially hard for women because men have more power than women do in a family and outside of family. In some Islamic countries, the husband treats a wife like a slave. A wife can’t do anything about it because she doesn’t have any power. One of the most important rules in Islam is that a Muslim woman can’t get married to a non-Muslim man. This is the hardest rule to follow because not all women have control of their hearts. What if she falls in love with a non- Muslim? A woman should have control to be with whom she loves.
As for my personal experience as a Muslim girl, I dated a Catholic boy for three years. I lived in Vermont and he lived 30 minutes away from my house. I was a young girl who didn’t know much about the restrictions in my religion, so I dated him. My parents didn’t know about it until my last year of high school. We loved each other so much that I don’t have enough words to explain it. He asked me to marry him during our last year of my high school, but my parents disagreed when I told them about it. It was a heartbreaking day when I had to say goodbye to him with my big tears. (I just hated it). My parents were in Ohio; they came to VT and took me away from him to OH, and they married me to a person that I have never seen before.
