As Jesus was walking through the villages teaching his word he came across Matthew a tax collector and he told him to follow him and Matthew followed him. Matthew followed him because he knew what he was doing was wrong and so he repent.
In Matthew Jesus’ disciples were Simon (peter) and his brother Andrew; James and his brother John; Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Mathew. Jesus told his disciples that they were to go the lost sheep of Israel and they had to proclaim the message that the kingdom of heaven has come near. They were called to heal the sick. Jesus warned them that they were going to be hated by others because of him and be arrested but they shouldn’t worry because the Holy Spirit was going to speak through them if they didn’t know what to say. Jesus told them that they should not be afraid of the man that kills the body because they cannot kill the soul. He said that he is not there on earth to bring peace but to turn man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law and a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.
Jesus’ disciples came across many sick people that were begging them to heal them but they couldn’t. The reason they couldn’t heal them was because they had so little faith. Jesus explained that if they don’t have faith then nothing will go as plan.
