The Kennedy’s, one of America’s strongest political dynasties, was forged when Rose Fitzgerald fell in love with Joseph Kennedy. They were married on October 7, 1914, and then came the children. John Fitzgerald Kennedy, their second child, would become the 35th president of the United States. At the age of 43, he was the youngest man to ever be elected president. Unfortunately, a lot of his dreams and ideas would never be seen by him. John would be assassinated by Lee Harvey Oswald. The country would only see this young, energetic man lead the country for a short period of time.

May 29th, 1917, was a cold, spring day in Brookline, Massachusetts. This was the day that John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born. He was born to parents Joseph and Rose Kennedy. He was the second child of the couple and they nicknamed him Jack. Joseph, Jack’s dad, was a successful businessman and was active in politics. Rose, Jack’s mom, was a Boston socialite, she was the daughter of the mayor of Boston. As the years went by, the Kennedy family grew. Joseph and Rose had a total of nine children-four boys and five girls. Jack grew up a sickly child with a poor immune system. It is said that he received the sacrament known as “anointing of the sick” five times throughout his life. Through this, he stayed alive and had a strong will to live along with a will to be great. This will to be great came from his father. The kids grew up with a lot of activities in a house full of fun. Joseph wanted his kids to do well at everything and would often say, “We want winners around here!” With so many siblings, there was often friendly competition in the Kennedy house. Although the Kennedy family had money, they were raised learning the value of money. There were no large allowances given, the kids had to earn their way.
