John Buddy Pearson was a brother, husband, mayor, preacher, and a carpenter. I am pretty sure that John has left a lot of people with some good memories of what he has done and accomplished in his life time.
As some of you already know, John was an admirer of beautiful women. He was also known as a smooth talker. John was born and raised in Sanford, Florida and then moved to his new home in Eatonville, Florida where he developed a good relationship with some the people there and where he died. He was not the best man and far from the worst.
John was born to Ned Crittenden and Amy Crittenden and was the older of his two half brothers (Zeke and Zachariah). He had a rough child hood because Ned his step-father would take his anger out on him and would want to beat on him because John was light-skinned (yaller) and also because he was so jealous of John. Ned thought that John was Alf Pearson’s son. John who adopts the surname has an immediate success among the workers and especially with the women.
John as determined as he is, courted after Lucy Potts till they finally were married. During their marriage, they had four children. John had a temper like the rest of us when it came down to disrespecting him or his family and he proved it when he bet up Lucy’s brother for taking their bed for a payment. Although John did not claim Alf Pearson as his father, Alf was the one that bailed him out and gave him some fatherly advice.
John, who had a temptation of flight because he could not face his problems, went to Eatonville, Fl where he had good standing in the community. He sent for his wife Lucy and their four children. With her help, he became a minister and the mayor.
John leaves to mourn his death is his four children, two, ex-wives, a lover, and a large amount of family and friends. His parents and his faithful devoted wife Lucy Potts precede him at death.
