Members of a family usually live under a common roof. Families exist in some every form, and every person is or was a member of a family. Various definitions of the family includes special: biological, psychological, and social linkages. Biologically everyone has a father and mother. Psychologically most people identify with someone they define as parent, grandparent, brother or sister, uncle or aunty, or cousin. Socially most people are members of a group they perceive as “family --- one in which relationships operate in an atmosphere of acceptance, intimacy, support and trust. To most sociologist and anthropologists, the term family refers to persons related by blood, marriage, or adoption. A family is habitually formed when a man and a woman from two different families get married and live together. In some cultures, married couples wear a ring as a symbol of their union. Children are generally born within a family. Most children are born and grown up in the same family. Such a family is known as the family of origin. Others may be adopted by a family. Such a family is known as the family of adoption. Tasks of a family Most families carry out the same tasks such as: Child bearing, Providing for members’ basic needs; food, housing and clothing, Providing emotional support, Socializing with the members, Laying the foundations for family traditions, Providing medical care, Loving the members, Caring for the members, Fulfill wishes of the family, Delegating all the main responsibilities, Providing the members with their wants...
