Tragedy struck America on December 26, 1996, when a little girl named JonBenet Ramsey was found murdered in her home. The murderer has not been caught and may be right under our noses; however, there is no case that is unsolvable, so her parents should not make long-term plans. The Ramsey family seemed to be the picture perfect American family. John and Patsy Ramsey had been married for sixteen years by this time and had two beautiful children, JonBenet, age six and Burke, age nine. This was a very wealthy family and they lived a very wealthy life style. Everyone envied the Ramseys until that tragic morning of December 26, 1996 when there lives fell apart.

John and Patsy Ramsey put the children to bed on Christmas Eve and told them that they had to go to sleep in order for Santa Claus to come. They waited until the children were asleep and then went to the basement to retrieve the gifts that Patsy had been stashing down there so that the children didn't find them (Ramsey, 2000 p.2). After putting all the gifts under the tree, John and Patsy went to bed, knowing that they would be awoken early the next morning by the children. After the children woke their parents, the Christmas activities began.

This family's traditions were not much different from mine or yours, except they had a lot more money to spend on lavish gifts. JonBenet was like any other child and she loved Christmas and all the gifts, food, and fun that accompanied the holiday. The Ramseys opened all of their gifts and then, went on to do their own things. JonBenet and Burke played outside with the other neighborhood children, while Patsy got some things ready for the trip to Michigan they had planned for the next morning; and John went to the airport to make sure the plane was ready for the trip. John's friend owned the plane and John wanted to make sure everything was ready and working for their trip the next morning. John was also a pilot but this was a family trip...
