Julius Caesar Essay
“I love the name of honor, more than I fear death.” This quote from Julius Caesar,
describes him as an ambitious man to some of the people in Rome. However, there are also
people that deeply respects and believe Caesar as a ruler of Rome. For instance, Julius
Caesar, was known for his successful political and military career. In addition, his great skills
as a great warrior expanded the Roman Republic through a series of battles across Europe.
Unfortunately, to some people of high positions, thought he was an ambitious man, ambitious
enough to be a “threat” in the future. He was killed by the hands of political rivals, among
them was his friend Brutus. However, one of his men, Mark Anthony, gives proof, through
speech, that Caesar was an innocent man. In fact, his speech compared to Brutus’s was
more persuasive in a way that he uses repetition, sarcasm, rhetorical questions, to prove a
point that Caesar was an innocent man.
Both Mark Anthony and Brutus had powerful speeches, however their styles in
persuading readers are much different from each other. Mark Anthony’s speech consists of
repetition, sarcasm, rhetorical questions, and the tone of his voice was just reachable. On the
other hand, Brutus used emotions, rhetorical questions, and parallel structure to persuade the
people about how he felt about Caesar and Rome. Even though both speeches were well
finished, people would be more persuaded by the oration of Mark Anthony’s. One example of
a repetition that Mark anthony used to persuade his readers was “But Brutus says he was
ambitious, and Brutus is an honorable man.” He repeated these lines 3 times with sarcasm,
proving a point in the people’s minds that Caesar was of free guilt. Another skill that he used
